Welcome to the Marilyn Monroe Wiki
Marilyn Monroe was born on the 1st June 1926 in Los Angeles County Hospital. She was named Norma Jeane Mortenson, but was soon changed after by her mother to Norma Jeane Baker. This was the surname of Monroe's mother, (Gladys) first husband. But on Monroe's birth certificate, Martin E Morteson lays underneath father of the child. Martin's surname was missspelled on the birth certificate, this led to confusion as to who little Norma Jeane's father actually was.
She had a small role in the Marx Brothers film, Love Happy. After signing with Johnny Hyde, she had brief roles in three films, A Ticket to Tomahawk, Right Cross and Fire ball, all of which released in in 1950. but these films did not bring her anything for her career. Hyde decided to audition for John Huston, who later casted her in the Asphalt Jungle. She played a serious part, which brought her strong reviews. It brought her to the attention to the writer and directer Joseph Mankiewicz, he accepted the decision to cast a small role of Monroe in a comedy, called. All about Eve.
